Is shuttered Fremont East favorite Kabob Korner headed to the Eastside?

A former Fremont East fast dining staple, until its lease was bought out in October by the Downtown Project, Kabob Korner vowed they would rebuild their business in a new location. And they, or someone using their exact same name, have found one.

A mystery-owned Kabob Korner is readying to take over a former Quiznos sandwich outlet, located across the street from The National Atomic Testing Museum and two doors down from Mint Indian Bistro. With room for 27, new upgrades will increase the size of the kitchen on the 1,110-square-foot space. No timetable for completion has been announced.

Halal-certified, the Kabob Korner was known for their Pocket Pitas, Super Gyros, kabobs and a handy location amid the Fremont bar scene. Its recent shuttering joined closed neighbor Uncle Joe’s Pizza and the vacant space at 509 Fremont to create a very prominent vacant section on the block, awaiting future news of development plans.
