Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis says her very first restaurant, coming to recently named The Cromwell, will open in mid-May. She talks to Canadian Living about some of the décor and the dishes she's most excited about.
On the décor, she says the space has a lot of "warmth."
I wanted to create a restaurant that had a home feel. I wanted to have a fireplace and a beautiful antipasto bar so that's the first thing you see and smell when you first walk in to the restaurant. There's lots of warm colours blended with lots of whites and cream and pops of colour.
As for the dishes she's developing in addition to the ones she previewed at the $5,000 a plate event at the Sundance Film Festival, look for a chicken cacciatore for two with a whole chicken prepared with a red wine butter and tomato paste, roasted with vegetables.
