Ladies and gentlemen, Eater readers of all ages, please inch a little closer to the computer screen for a special announcement. Starting right now and ending, oh, around 5 p.m. Friday, Eater will be your headquarters for all things pizza for this, our second-ever Eater Pizza Week. From the celebrated Neapolitan pizzerias to the better-than-average corner slice joints to the oddball pizza parlors, we will leave no pizza stone left unturned. There will be maps, guides, photos, interviews, polls and oh so very much more.
But we can't do it alone — we need your help. On Friday, we will be exploring the weird world of pizza delivery. If you have an amusing/disturbing pizza delivery story, please send that to the tipline. And, starting later today, we will need your help picking the greatest pizzeria in Las Vegas via voting.
But first, some specials, just for you, dear reader. Double Helix at Town Square created a special Pizza Week dish, the flatbread braised short rib, roasted Brussels sprouts, caramelized apples, Gruyere cheese and fontina sauce.
D.vino Italian Food & Wine Bar at the Monte Carlo created the sopressata with dry Italian meat, garlic olive oil, wild mushrooms, leeks, fontina cheese and aged balsamic vinegar.
At Fix Restaurant & Bar at the Bellagio, chef Brian Massie created the duck prosciutto flatbread with fromage blanc, onions, pecorino cheese and rocket.
At Red Square at Mandalay Bay, Massie made a decadent salmon pizza made with caviar, in-house smoked salmon and pickled red onions.
And Lavo at the Palazzo is serving up a Neapolitan-style pizza topped with escarole, garlic, salame and Sardinian sheep ricotta for $22.
