Noe Alcala Shares His Favorite Places to Eat Pizza

Sin City is home to a lot of restaurants and bars, but there are tons of hidden gems that the majority of Las Vegans aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's food players to share their recommendations for Dining Confidential. This week, we asked chefs to talk about their favorite pizza joints for Pizza Week. Know a chef who wants to share some top dining spots? The tipline is open.

Noe Alcala heads up the kitchens at Hussong's Cantina and Slice of Vegas at Mandalay Place. Here he shares three of his favorite places to pick up pizza, including his own restaurant, a New York-style pizzeria and a famous spot in Phoenix.

Where do you like to go for pizza when you're not working?
Don't want to look like I'm favoring our own Slice of Vegas but I really enjoy our pizzas, I think our crust and the quality of our cheese is amazing.

Broadway Pizzeria here in Vegas. I'm a very simple guy and I can identify a great pizza by just trying a plain cheese pizza. When the quality of the crust is obvious, a great cheese is all you need to enjoy a pie.

Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. This is a place that I stop at every time I'm around the Phoenix area, again fresh ingredients are essential. At Bianco, simple dishes and a small menu gives them the opportunity to focus in quality.

What pizza are most memorable?
Slice of Vegas — "il Mangino" pizza is for sure one of my favorites. I developed this pizza in honor of one of our co-founders, Brian Mangino. Pizza sauce, cheese, prosciutto, grilled red onions, ricotta cheese and finished with arugula with a touch of lemon juice. A 12-inch is never enough.

Broadway Pizzeria — A traditional cheese New York-style pizza, can never go wrong. I love to just swing by and order a couple of slices, love the crust.

Pizzeria Bianco — Well, I really enjoy all of their pizzas, but there is one that is my favorite. "Wise Guy" — smoked mozzarella with fennel sausage and onions. It's as simple as that: fresh ingredients, great flavors and a warm atmosphere.

Why do you enjoy going there?
At Slice of Vegas it is very simple, I work there and I have the opportunity to always eat a great pizza at any time (smile).

Broadway Pizzeria has a great central location, so when I'm enjoying downtown or I'm driving by, it is a must. Like I mentioned before, I'm a big fan of a great New York style pizza.

Pizzeria Bianco has great choices for individual pizzas. A handmade mozzarella as an appetizer, a perfect pizza, and let's not forget a great wine — makes it ideal for me.
