More changes at the Harmon Corner retail center. A 24-hour Subway sandwich franchise will be replacing the 24-hour Tropical Smoothie Cafe on the ground floor of the two-level mall located in the middle of the Strip. The smoothie store opened in 2012, next door to an urban design concept Metro-McDonald's.
As Eater Vegas recently discovered, Subway will be joining the fourth outpost for local microbrewery Sin City Brewing Co., which is taking over a former shoe and accessory shop. While the ground floor is now stacked full of occupants, upstairs at the 110,184-square-foot building is proving a tougher sell.
The corner space vacated by the evicted Manhattan Streets hot dog joint remains empty across from a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., as does the long shuttered 14,495-square-foot, year-round horror attraction Goretorium sitting vacant next door to the first Twin Peaks restaurant in Las Vegas.
While Harmon Corner has managed to attract brand name restaurant chains, their track record with retailers has fallen short. And now, original tenants Gaya cosmetics store and Millennium Foto camera store have also recently departed, leaving the upper level with three small, souvenir shopping outlets.
