Culinary Union Plans To Picket Downtown Resorts

New, 2 comments

What's the next step for Culinary Union 226, which authorized a strike last week? Picketing. The union is asking members to sign up to picket eight downtown resorts, Margaritaville inside the Flamingo Las Vegas and Brady Laundries, which services many resorts on the Strip.

The union overwhelmingly voted last week to authorize a strike after ending an extended contract with the properties.

Expect pickets lines from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at The Plaza, Binion's, Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Las Vegas Club, Main Street Station, El Cortez, Fremont and the Golden Gate along with Margaritaville at the Flamingo Las Vegas and Brady Laundries, which services many resorts on the Strip.

Union workers are asking for health benefits, better wages and a guaranteed work week. The affected properties represent about 10,000 union workers.
