Competitive Eating at NY-NY; Distill's '80s Party

NEW YORK-NEW YORK — Competitive eaters are training for the 17th annual qualifying event for the 99th Annual Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y. The first stop on this year's national qualifying tour route is Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m. on the resort's brand new Strip-side plaza. During the main event, male and female winners will be crowned "Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champions" earning the right to represent Las Vegas in the July 4 finals. A special employee contest along with a "Heroes" competition for charity will begin at 1 p.m. [EaterWire]

SUMMERLINDistill throws an '80s Party on Saturday, April 26, at 8 p.m.  There is no cover for the party, however all guests at Distill must be over 21 years-old with valid ID. A deejay spins all the favorite '80s hits covering hair metal, boy bands, new wave and more.  All guests are encouraged to channel their inner brain, athlete, princess, basket case and criminal to participate in a costume contest. Paying homage to the decade, drink specials will include $3 Bartles and James, $2 Jell-O Shots and $3 Miller Lite bottles.
