Panevino's New Vegan Dishes; Golden Nugget Wine Events

SOUTHEAST — Panevino Ristorante added four new plant-based dishes to its vegan menu. New plant-based selections include grilled vegetable lasagna ($26), featuring layers of eggplant, zucchini, squash, roasted tomatoes, roasted bell peppers and mushrooms in a creamy vodka tomato sauce, and organic whole wheat spaghetti Mediterranean ($25), tossed with roasted tomatoes, black olives, capers, garlic and parsley in a lightly spicy fresh tomato sauce. Savory entrées include organic brown rice mushroom and pesto risotto ($28), with marinated Italian mushrooms, pesto, mashed avocado and diced tomatoes, and organic "meatloaf" and mashed potatoes ($28), featuring a  meatless blend of organic legumes, wild mushrooms and herbs on a bed of garlic and rosemary mashed potatoes in a fresh tomato and Kalamata-style olive sauce. Panevino has also introduced new plant-based sauces and dressings including: oil-free vodka-tomato sauce, oil-free basil pesto sauce and oil-free Caesar salad dressing. [EaterWire]

GOLDEN NUGGET — The Sixth Annual Spring Wine Fest comes to the resort Friday through Sunday. Master sommeliers Larry Stone and Guy Stout will host intimate seminars and dinners with the support of winery owners, winemakers and international branding ambassadors. On Friday, have a poolside dinner with master sommelier Larry Stone and brand ambassador Meaghan Becker with wines from Neyen, Primus and Ritual, three of Chile's most progressive wineries, and pairings of South American cuisine from executive chefs Richard Hawthorne and Mark Sherline. Tickets for the 6 p.m. Friday dinner are $125 per person. At 7 p.m. on Friday, Napa Valley's Realm Cellars wine event features winery ambassador Scott Becker and master sommelier Guy Stout for dinner at Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse for $250 per person. On Friday, guests can partake in the noon introduction to South American grape varietals and regions for $30. Another seminar at 2:30 p.m. features several of California's premier producers, including Cakebread Cellars, ZD, Rodney Strong and Concannon for $45, or $65 for both Saturday seminars. A poolside Champagne & Wine Kick-Off reception takes place Friday, The Grand Tasting takes place Saturday and both the Champagne & Jazz Brunch and "Wine" Down with the Winemakers happens on Saturday.
