The former Michelin starred, French cuisine, miX from Alain Ducasse at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay will receive a culinary makeover when the resort itself is re-branded the Delano Las Vegas later this year. The luxury suite hotel within the grounds of Mandalay Bay is undergoing a complete renovation set to debut on Sept. 1.
The 64th floor miX restaurant, with some of the very best views of the Strip, will become the renowned chef's third Rivea restaurant serving French and Italian cuisine inspired by the food markets of Italy and Provence. The first Rivea location is within the Byblos Saint-Tropez hotel and Rivea London is set to debut May 12 at the Bulgari Hotel.
MiX is famed for its startling white design palate, while Rivea promises to "feature the flavors and colors of the Riviera in a smart, vibrant and casual setting."

The lounge adjacent to Rivea will also receive a makeover, but will remain attached and themed to the new restaurant and " take on a new personality."
In France, Rivea serves a menu of shared appetizers such as caponata, rock octopus salad, sardines comfit in basil, chick pea and sheep curd soup, and entrees such as swordfish steak and panisses, sautéed gamberoni, John Dory and hand-made pasta with clams. Desserts include the location inspired "Tarte Tropezienne accompanied by a citrus zest jus."
The Saint-Tropez incarnation features coral, terra cotta and aubergine bayadère textiles, "irregularly striped booths, bright and contrasting tones blend with the warm lighting in the room and to the large lanterns designed by Antonio Citterio." The mood is described as a "vibrant and refined atmosphere," while the table settings are "soberly tinted in simple shades of blue and white."
Among miX's numerous awards it was voted "Best Restaurant" by the Travel+Leisure Design Awards in 2006 and received a Michelin Star in both 2008 and 2009. While the resort section of The Delano intends to be completed on time, expect Rivea to debut sometime within a "winter 2014-2015" timeframe. MiX will shutter for renovation during an as yet unannounced "slower time," in the third or fourth quarter, with a projected New Year's Eve arrival.
