Pause the Pastrami, Stage Deli Closed for Makeover

MGM Grand's Stage Deli take out joint has temporarily shuttered for a remodel. Situated adjacent to the resort's Race & Sport Book, the home of overstuffed sandwiches and Krispy Kreme doughnuts is scheduled to return by early May.

While the name traded on the original Seventh Avenue deli in New York, the connection to that former institution has long gone. The Manhattan restaurant went belly-up in 2012, alongside its menu of towering desserts and gigantic sandwiches named after celebrities. At its peak, the deli licensed and franchised their name around the country and Las Vegas outposts were once housed at Bally's Las Vegas and the Forum Shops at Caesars.

With the parent company now vanished and with no operational, culinary or menu ties to this hold-out namesake, it remains to be seen if the resort decides to reveal a new moniker when the curtain is pulled back next month.
