New York-New York just announced the final piece of the puzzle for the front facade of the resort, a project that has been revamping the plaza area with watch boutique Swatch, oddities store Stupidiotic, I Love NYNY souvenir shop and Starbucks. Aside from the two-story Hershey's Chocolate World already announced a year ago and opening this spring, as well as Shake Shack comes word that Tom's Urban will take the place of The Sporting House, which will close June 3.
Smashburger founder Tom Ryan is behind the Denver- and LA-based Tom's Urban, a 24-hour diner serving "modern comfort food with an urban twist."
Last year, Eater Vegas interviewed Ryan about his growing Smashburger empire and asked whether he would ever consider opening on the Strip. "It would depend on where we are and it would depend on the circumstances. The best solutions come when they present themselves. We like to stay organic in our thinking on those fronts."
The restaurant serves omelets, benedicts, pancakes and breakfast burritos for breakfast; burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, tacos and burritos for lunch; and specialty dishes such as butter-poached lobster and shrimp tacos, blue corn crab enchiladas and truffled lobster and shrimp pot pie.
Tom's Urban plans to feature an indoor and outdoor patio with views of the replica Brooklyn Bridge and the Strip.
East Coast cult favorite Shack Shake will sit next to Tom's Urban.
Both will open in December.
