Joy's Restaurant Buffet at 1430 E. Charleston Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on May 9 after a re-inspection discovered an imminent health hazard.
SNHD inspectors found no adequate refrigeration, which called for the immediate closure, along with ineffective pest control measures, single use items reused and more.
SNHD shut down the restaurant in 2011 with 45 demerits. Other inspections reveal a checkered past with the health district. The original inspection on April 9 resulted in a B grade, followed by a C grade issued after a re-inspection on April 24.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
