Two Downtown resorts have come to a tentative agreement with the Culinary and Bartenders Unions' negotiating committee, avoiding a strike set for 5 a.m. on June 1. Boyd Gaming's Fremont and Main Street Station reached a new five-year contracts that follows the terms of the new Golden Nugget contract, ratified by workers on May 1.
June 1 marks the day that restaurant workers, hotel housekeepers, cocktail servers, bartenders and other members of the unions at unsettled casinos will walk off their jobs and start 24/7 picketing of D Las Vegas, Four Queens, Binion's, The Plaza, Las Vegas Club, El Cortez and Golden Gate unless agreements are reached. Golden Gate is the only resort that hasn't planned to meet with the union before the deadline.
Culinary Workers Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165 represent more than 55,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno, including at most of resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and in Downtown Las Vegas.
