With the Culinary Union's impending strike looming, now comes word that the D Las Vegas just negotiated a tentative agreement. The new five-year contract is retroactive to June 1, 2013, if it is ratified by the workers.
The settlement follows the Golden Nugget, Fremont, Main Street Station and El Cortez deals.
That narrows the list of Downtown resorts going on strike to six remaining. At 5 a.m. on June 1, restaurant workers, hotel housekeepers, cocktail servers, bartenders and other members of the unions at unsettled casinos will walk off their jobs and start 24/7 picketing of Four Queens, Binion's, The Plaza, Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate. Nearly 1,200 union workers remain without a contract in Downtown Las Vegas.
The union still doesn't have a negotiating meeting planned with the Golden Gate, although all other resorts plan to talk before the Sunday deadline.
