Two necessary items to call yourself a true Las Vegas resort are a really good coffee shop and a buffet. SLS Las Vegas will add their boutique spin on both when they open Labor Day weekend, with their buffet displaying some "cabin-chic" looks via a design from Gensler architects in collaboration with Philippe Starck. The concept is described as "stylish country," with mirrored walls, aged wooden bookshelves and antler chandeliers. To top off the theme, fireplaces are being installed in the dining rooms.
The monkey-branded logo, while seemingly a long way off the backwoods theme, is also an echo of the resort's forthcoming Monkey Bar. Both locations will serve up hand crafted cocktails, with the buffet offering a range of drinks like the Fig Winner, made with "Bulleit Rye whiskey, Ancho Reyes liqueur, and fig and Dr. Pepper simple syrup."
For diners, the buffet will feature "artisanal Mediterranean, wood-grilled, Chinese and Japanese cuisines prepared à la minute, with special hot pot, wok, steamer and sushi options. Chinese dishes include barbecued Peking duck and chicken and char siu ribs, while wood-grilled dishes include the savory garlic and thyme-laced porchetta chimichurri."
For a quickie option, The Perq is being created to serve coffee, tea and "grab-and-go" meals. This concept will be soon be headed out to other SLS Hotels. The hand-crafting this time is dedicated to coffee and tea and features a collaboration with Los Angeles-based roaster LAMILL to create a SLS Signature Blend coffee. Salads, paninis, house-made pastries, gelato and ice cream sandwiches will make up the menu.
Perq is the smaller cousin to the main 24/7 casual dining attraction destined for the property, The Griddle Cafe, imported from its original Hollywood location.
