The King & I at 1107 E. Tropicana Ave. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on June 10 uncovered 50 demerits.
Inspectors found that staff weren't washing their hands properly, spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures and more.
Inspections going back to 1996 reveal a mixed bag of grades, including an epidemiological investigation in 2001.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
