Downtown's shuttered Bunkhouse Saloon is committing to its August return with a headliner and a tentative step into promotion. Signage in front of the still very much under construction site nods to their promised debut event on Aug. 24, listed elsewhere as featuring indie veterans Built to Spill with local band Rusty Maples offering support. The official Built to Spill tour page does not yet list the gig, but the band is playing the FYF Festival in Los Angeles the night before. No ticket information has yet been released.
Shuttered in July 2013 for a "60-day remodel" the completely made-over 9,533-square-foot venue will join an extremely competitive entertainment market partly the fault of its own parent company, the Downtown Project. DTP also owns the directly neighboring, forthcoming outdoor music venue The Wheel House. The Bunkhouse will also host outside concerts on its 8,654-square-foot plaza, half a block away.
Social media for the venue calls itself The Bunkhouse, Bunkhouse Saloon, Bunkhouse and even The BH while their Website has dropped its original Bunkhouse Las Vegas name and now operates under the more adaptable brand Bunkhouse Downtown moniker. The former local dive bar and video poker joint will be dropping the gaming and retrofitting some of the original cowboy-themed decor into the completely scrubbed clean space.
