Taqueria El Paisano at 3300 S. Decatur Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on June 18 after a re-inspection revealed 25 demerits.
SNHD inspectors returned to find staff still wasn't properly washing their hands, food was unprotected from potential contamination and more. Inspectors originally visited the location on June 17 and issued 39 demerits, two away from shut down.
Looking back at inspections dating to 2011, the restaurant mainly received A grades with the exception of its first with a B grade.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
