Say Hola To Mercadito, Opening Tonight at Red Rock Resort

Tonight, nearly 10 months after it was first revealed, Mexican restaurant Mercadito swings open the doors on its newest restaurant at Red Rock Resort. This is a spot that specializes in tacos made in the kitchen with corn masa, serving up 11 varieties including espada with blackened swordfish, pastor with chile ancho rubbed pork and carne with marinated skirt steak. A number of vegetarian options pepper the menu.

Also find five types of guacamole including mango and toreado with sauteed chile serrano, three types of ceviches and six salsa, all of which can be ordered in groups of two or three. Prices here range from $8 to $18 for small plates and appetizers and $14.50 to $28 for tacos and entrees.

Chicago's The Tippling Bros., Mercadito's exclusive beverage partner, created the cocktail menu with its seven draft cocktails, margaritas, sangria and most notable non-alcoholic aqua frescas such as pineapple-ginger, a must order. Tequilas and mezcals make the menu as well.

Inside find room for 110 with space for another 47 on the outdoor patio and 19 in the bar and lounge.

Also of note, artwork from graffiti artist Erni Vales that lines the walls. Look for sugar skull tiles and a butterfly theme highlighting the monarch butterfly.

Mercadito plans to be open Sundays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. until midnight and to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Look for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily starting July 21 and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting July 5. Expect a second version of Mercadito to open at Green Valley Ranch in November.
