Darin Feinstein sure has been busy lately. Last week, he bought a stake in Beauty Bar with his long-time friend Corey Harrison from Pawn Stars. He already owns Fat Bar on the Strip and a stake in the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Now he's opened El Dorado Cantina Restaurant & Bar, a Mexican restaurant on Industrial Road next to Sapphire gentleman's club.
Feinstein and his Black Star Investments teamed up with Brett Talla, who has a concierge service in Vegas, to create this new joint that plans to be open 24 hours a day starting July 24.
Look for table side ghost chili salsa and guacamole and street tacos such as slow-roasted pork marinated in achiote. Other dishes include cochinita pibil with pork-marinated on achiote and rich Mayan spices wrapped into banana leaves served with habanero onion citrus mix; torta de Milaneza New York steak cut thin breaded and pan fried; chili verde con Nopales pork with tender cactus topped with green sauce; and tropical mahi chargrilled, topped with salsa and citrus habanero sauce. El Dorado uses products that are free of antibiotics, pesticides and steroids
More than 100 tequilas, such as AsomBroso Vintage 11-year aged and Clase Azul Ultra, make the menu along with red, white and sparkling sangrias. Specialty craft beers include Samuel Pure Brewed Organic Lager and Day of the Dead IPA. Horchata and house-made fresh juices such as tamarind, hibiscus, pineapple and seasonal watermelon and mango round out some of the nonalchoholic drinks.
The 4,200-square-foot restaurant seats 181 total with room for 25 at the Macassar ebony topped bar and a private dining room for 40. Rich brown woods, hand-woven deep red wall coverings and wrought-iron Mexican light fixtures add a soft lighting ambiance, while custom built-in lighted birch wood boxes showcase the tequilas. Several antique mirrors and two aged antique Mexican oak and copper doors hang near the bar.
Until July 23, the restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
