Rumors surfaced a year ago that shouty chef Gordon Ramsay wanted to open a restaurant in Las Vegas with his besty, soccer star and underwear model David Beckham. That didn't happen. Now new rumors have surfaced that the former footballer Beckham wants to open his own restaurant chain, initially dubbed Beckham's Bistro. And it seems like it's really going to happen.
"It's got a good ring to it. It will be about dining. I'm a foodie and dining is a big part of this," Beckham tells the Daily Star.
Becks already has ties to the Sands Corp., serving as an ambassador to the resorts in Singapore and Macau, where he plans to develop "dining, retail and leisure concepts."
Beckham backed out as a partner in Gordon Ramsay's London-based Union Street café just weeks before it opened. Ramsay of course has Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace and Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood Resort. He also planned to open Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips at The Linq.
"David is 100 percent committed to working with the Sands Corp. and his views on dining and the immediate direction for restaurants in Vegas and further afield have been welcomed," a source with Sands Corp. says.
In the meantime, Ramsay has plans to expand his Bread Street Kitchen to Hong Kong in September, is in "final discussions" with Las Vegas Sands to possibly open restaurants in Singapore and Macau and will open a new restaurant in London's West End called Heddon Street Kitchen with a two-story "all day dining room" and a menu of "modern European food."
