Work on Tom's Urban is wasting no time demolishing the 16,000 square feet of The Sporting House, the former New York-New York sports bar facing the Vegas Strip.
The 24-hour, elevated comfort food restaurant takes its name from creator Tom Ryan, founder of Smashburger. Tom's Urban is already located in Denver and at the L.A. Live entertainment complex in Los Angeles.
With an indoor and outdoor patio and a location wedged next to forthcoming burger legends Shake Shack, the aim is to bring a new influx of visitors to this replica Brooklyn Bridge promenade and then keep them in The Park district being built to the side of the property. The Park will feature retail, entertainment, more dining and fill a $100 million pedestrian district leading to the new 20,000 seat MGM - AEG Arena all set to be finished by spring 2016.

The Tom's Urban menu will feature its spins on omelets, benedicts, pancakes and burritos for breakfast, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, tacos and burritos for lunch and more exotic dishes like butter poached lobster and shrimp tacos, Xiangxiang crispy duck wings and tailgater bratwurst breakfast sliders. The motto is "globally inspired, locally sourced, and seasonally influenced cuisine."

New York-New York already hosts another 24-hour comfort food restaurant with America, run by ARK Las Vegas, who also operate the Broadway Burger Bar and Grill just a few steps away from the future Shake Shack burger joint location. Ark was the team behind The Sporting House restaurant, where these new ventures will sit.
Tom's Urban is expected to debut this December.
