Hunan Jiu Jia, the Chinese restaurant at 3950 Schiff Drive, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on July 11 after a routine inspection found an imminent health hazard as well as 45 demerits.
SNHD inspectors found gross unsanitary occurrences including a pest infestation during the visit. Other violations included spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures and more.
The restaurant has a checkered past with the SNHD, but the closest it ever came to shutdown was in 2008 with 37 demerits.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
