Ichiza, the Japanese izakaya at 4355 Spring Mountain Road, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on June 30 after a re-inspection found 38 demerits.
SNHD inspectors initially inspected on June 9 and found the same number of demerits. This time, they found spoiled food, reused single use items, improper hand washing and more.
This is the fifth time SNHD has shut down the restaurant since 2010. Despite frequent run-ins with SNHD, the restaurant remains a favorite among the food cognoscenti.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
