Urban Turban, a Bombay-inspired tapas bar and restaurant from Auckland, New Zealand, is headed to Las Vegas. The company with big expansion plans will be headed up here by Bhushan Arolkar, who describes the venture as opening this fall.
In New Zealand, Urban Turban occupies an enviable waterfront location serving fresh ingredient twists on Indian street food and familiar items like chicken tikka, pav bhaji, naans and rotis and all you can eat "bottomless curries" for the heartiest of eaters.
Arolkar also runs franchises of Oporto in New Zealand, the Portuguese-style chicken focused burger chain described as possessing " a cult following in Australia on the scale of In-N-Out in California." However, three attempts to launch the Oporto brand to California have resulted in the shuttering of each location.
While the address for the Las Vegas Urban Turban has yet to been confirmed, it is expected to fill a well-known space vacated by a familiar brand on the eastside.
