Staff didn't wash their hands properly, food was unprotected from potential contamination, inaccurate thermometers and more were found by SNHD inspectors. The restaurant was originally inspected on July 11 and received 31 demerits, a C grade. During the re-inspection, Sushi Mon received 25 demerits.

The closest Sushi Mon has come to shut down in the past was a 40-demerit inspection in 2010 that was upgraded to an A grade about two weeks later.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
