The bar at the Convention Center friendly Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Aug 8 following a routine inspection.
SNHD cited 21 demerits, below the familiar 40 demerit threshold for closure, but the Health District found enough problems to close it down.
The bar's last inspection earned an A grade in June 2014, after a re-inspection boosted them from B grade status. The shut down was applied to the bar and not to the Envy Steakhouse, the hotel's sole dining attraction.
Violations discovered by inspectors included issues with hand washing and food handling, hot and cold running water and spoiled or contaminated food.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
