HK Star Cantonese at 3400 S. Jones Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Aug. 14 with 50 demerits and an imminent health hazard.
SNHD inspectors found a pest infestation during the routine inspection, along with spoiled food, food unprotected from contamination, staff not washing their hands, inaccurate thermometers and more.
SNHD started inspecting the restaurant in 2009 and this is the first time it's been shut down.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
