Guthrie's, the Golden Fried Chicken Fingers focused, Southern-based, fast food franchise looks like it might be on the way out soon. An $80,000 per year sublease through 2017 on their 2,400-square-foot restaurant with drive-thru, has been publicly advertised for a couple of weeks. It sits across from Cheyenne Commons Shopping Center.
Now, a new concept, the VooDoo Wing Company with a New Orleans-inspired design motif is registered as a new business at the Guthrie's address. Other than chicken wings, no expanded menu is currently available.
The chicken finger merchants story began in 1965 and have branches in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio and Tennessee. This was their only Nevada location. Starting a running theme, it took over from a Kentucky Fried Chicken outpost. No timetable for the switcheroo has been announced.
