SNHD Shuts Down New Jumbo Buffet a Fourth Time

New Jumbo Buffet at 1617 S. Decatur Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on July 30 with an imminent health hazard.

SNHD inspectors re-inspected the buffet and found a lack of adequate refrigeration, which called for the immediate closure. Other demerits among the 28 found include food unprotected from potential contamination, food improperly cooled and more.

SNHD originally inspected the restaurant on July 17 and handed out a 20-demerit B grade.

The restaurant was previously shut down three other times, including a 57-demerit visit in 2009 and most recently during a re-inspection on April 2 where ineffective pest control measures, food not cooled properly and more were among the violations.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
