A pest infection called for the immediate closure of Church's Chicken at 4800 E. Flamingo Road during a routine inspection by the Southern Nevada Health District on Aug. 4.
Other violations included no hot and cold running water from an approved source, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures and more.
While this is the first time the restaurant has been closed by SNHD since inspections were recorded starting in 2003, Church's has come close to shutdown with two 36-demerit inspections and one 37-demerit visit. Previously, the restaurant was re-inspected in April with an A grade.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
