Shaanxi Gourmet, the Chinese restaurant that was a food critic darling last year, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Sept. 16 with an imminent health hazard coupled with 39 demerits.
SNHD inspectors found a pest infestation during their routine inspection. Other demerits include spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures and more.
Earlier this year, the restaurant earned a B grade, upgraded to an A grade after two months.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
