Mercadito's Tacos for Strength; Pink Pastries at Station Casinos

A daily wrap up of the smaller news you may have missed.

RED ROCK RESORT — Mercadito kicks off its Tacos for Strength campaign beginning Oct. 1. Each year chef and partner Patricio Sandoval invites a variety of chefs to “think outside the tortilla” and create tacos to support Share Our Strength. Chicago’s Jason Vincent, formerly of Nightwood, has the taco in October, Philadelphia’s Kevin Sbraga of Sbraga in November and Paul Virant of Perennial Virant in Chicago and Vie in Western Springs, Ill., in December. Tacos for Strength selections are available for dinner (four per order) for $17.50 or for lunch (three per order) for $13.50. Five percent of proceeds benefit Share Our Strength. [EaterWire]

STATION CASINOS — Look for pink pastries at the Grand Cafes and Café Fiesta in October. Strawberry shortcake, peanut brittle, pink and white cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and white chocolate glittered popcorn, to name a few, will be available at six of the Grand Café locations including Boulder Station, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Palace Station, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station as well as at Café Fiesta inside Fiesta Henderson. The pink pastries range in price beginning at $1.99 per item on up. [EaterWire]
