HK Star Cantonese Restaurant at 3400 S. Jones Blvd. came within two points of shutdown by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Jan. 6.
Inspectors found commercially manufactured food from unapproved sources, food unprotected from contamination, grade cards not posted, no hand washing as required, unacceptable personal hygiene, no person in charge who was available and knowledgeable and more during the 39 demerit inspection.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
