University of Iowa fans, brace. The Fieldhouse, that bastion of sports bars supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes, is heading to Las Vegas. Dave Carey, who owns the original sports bar in Iowa City, Iowa, is behind the new project going in at 2971-2973 Industrial Road, right off Sahara Avenue.

The Fieldhouse originally opened in Iowa City in 1927 and now has locations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Davenport, Iowa, which opened around Labor Day weekend. Expect to find a menu of pizzas, hamburgers and tenderloins, an iconic dish of Iowa.

Right now, the black and gold bar is going through the approval process with the city, trying to reduce the number of required parking spaces for the 20,000-square-foot plot of land. While not taking up the entire strip mall, the space The Fieldhouse plans to use on Industrial Road has been vacant since 2010. The restaurant is also applying for a gaming license.

No timeframe on when it may open, although in September, a Quad-City Business Journal article said within six months.
