North Las Vegas has a new bakery and creamery offering a side line in Canadian favorites and breakfast and "brinner-on-a bun."
Taking over the shuttered Goldilocks Bake Shop, Salted Malted's "fry bar" is now up and running, creating poutine topped with cheese curds and gravy, plus peameal bacon for an extra $2.
Further inspired by the "Peameal Bacon Sandwich" at the Carousel Bakery in Toronto's St. Lawrence Market, Salted Malted has a version called "The Canuck," built with "grilled peameal bacon on a fresh Kaiser roll" and can be converted into a "Canadian Sunrise" with added cheese and a fried egg.
Dessert choices include Dole soft serve, Thrifty ice cream, custards like the "Fat Elvis" — made with banana custard, peanut butter swirl and chocolate chips, plus pumpkin latte and churro cookies and bubble gum ice cream cake.
