Tacos El Gordo to Replace Tacos El Gordo on The Strip

A second chance for fans of the late night haunt.

One of the oddest switcheroos recent years is currently taking place at the shuttered, former Strip home of Tacos El Gordo, located within walking distance of Wynn Las Vegas. Closed in December 2014, amid reports of strife between the landlord and restaurant operators, in a very surprising reversal of fortune Tacos El Gordo is now confirmed to be returning to that exact same space and a remodel is already underway.

Following the closure, another local favorite, Taco y Taco, was in talks to create its third Las Vegas location in the corner spot, but the property has remained a highly visible vacancy at the Gold Key Shops retail center ever since. Just around the corner, Vegas Grill & Drink is under construction to offer a menu of  burgers and pizza, frozen margaritas and over-sized "yard drinks" inspired by Fat Tuesday.

Famed for their authentic Tijuana flavors and being a very busy late night, final destination for Strip visitors, Tacos El Gordo already operates at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd. and 3260 Losee Road in North Las Vegas.

A firm debut date is yet to be announced, but could be within weeks. Still at issue, whether the outdoor seating tents will be permitted to return.
