Things are going so well for Donut Bar, according to Zagat, that the popular San Diego snack shop is expanding to Las Vegas. No opening date is set, but look for the company to sling fresh doughnut varieties like blueberry-Meyer lemon and Vermont maple glaze in a 1,436-square-foot space "on the corner of East Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road right across from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino."
Although the San Diego location opens at 7 a.m. and closes when everything sells out, typically around noon, owner Santiago Campa told the publication, "In Vegas, he's expecting to open to at 6 or 7 AM and once the pastries sell out, he'll transition the shop to serve ice cream stuffed into cinnamon-sugar donuts for the afternoon. Around 7 PM the shop will once again serve fresh donuts." Tweaking an existing model for the sleepless Las Vegas crowd isn't uncommon; most recently, Los Angeles' Eggslut promised a similar adjustment when it expands to the Strip.
