As the Boulevard Mall gears up for the holiday season, two new ventures are close to providing another assist to the mall's steady turnaround. Olivia's Latin Cuisine & Bar from Faviola Trujillo, the force behind two local outposts of Taco Y Taco Mexican Eatery has been hiring and the mall promises the Mexican and seafood focused restaurant is "coming soon." Work on the 5,318-square-foot space began with an estimated half a million dollar budget, back in May.
Offering a confirmed opening date, the super-sized 60,000-square-foot John's Incredible Pizza Co. is aiming for a grand opening on Dec. 20. With room for 1,000 guests, the games and casual food concept can serve serve up to 700 pizzas an hour for its family-style all-you-can-eat buffet, featuring a salad bar, fried chicken, pasta with homemade sauces, soups, a potato bar and desserts. Guests of all ages can then can enjoy as many as 100 games, rides and attractions including adult-sized bumper cars, glow golf, a mini bowling alley and a swinging plane. The chain's furry, dancing mascot named IncrediBear is known for his bear boogie dance.
For local cooks looking for their own culinary adventures, the second local branch of Asian-American supermarket 99 Ranch Market has now opened on the south end of the mall. The 34,509-square-foot store is far bigger than its Chinatown parent and offers a food court and imported fruits, vegetables and their signature seafood selection.
Still to be announced as the mall continues to upgrade, more dining and a newly signed 28,386-square-foot furniture sales tenant.
