Following news Rock of Ages, the hair-metal, jukebox musical at the Venetian will shutter in January, speculation their '80s-themed, spin-off lounge The Bourbon Room wouldn't be far behind has now been confirmed.
Marvelless Mark, an MC and host at the lounge, announced that The Bourbon Room will close on Feb. 8. The last performance of Rock of Ages is at 8 p.m. on Jan. 3.
Opened in June 2012 in the former La Scena room, the lounge featured amped-up resident VJs and cocktail server staff who performed on a raised catwalk stage throughout the evening, dancing to the room's signature eighties rock video soundtrack. Guests could also sample 60 different kinds of bourbons including two single-barrel bourbons specifically created for the concept. To further enhance the vintage mood, Bartles & Jaymes flavored wine coolers were also featured on the menu.
Hosts like Marvelless Mark would engage theater-goers as they left the Rock of Ages show and become a leather-clad pied piper, leading crowds from the Venetian's restaurant row right into the casino floor lounge.
Informed rumors of the stage production moving to the Rio are currently bolstered by Ticketmaster featuring a new "Rock of Ages Theater" as part of the resort's assets. No word if the The Bourbon Lounge will also make the leap across town.
