Is it sushi? Is it a burrito? It’s a little of both. Chef John Chien Lee of Soho Japanese Restaurant fame brought the concept that’s popular in California, Utah and Colorado to Las Vegas, right across from Palace Station, with Jaburritos. Sure, it takes a fast food approach with a walk-up counter and the sushi burritos made right in front of you. Pick from sauces such as chipotle mayo, mango teriyaki, tomatillo shiso, diablo loca or yuzu chili, among others. Then select a protein, ranging in price from $5.95 to $7.95, from picks such as spicy tuna, sweet omelette, surimi crab, salmon, grilled chicken or steak, Gardein asada tofu or soft shell crab. Pick some toppings such as romaine lettuce, radish, cilantro, red onion, pico de gallo, roasted corn and more. Then wrap it in a flour or wheat tortilla or seaweed or soy paper. You’ve got a Jaburrito. Take a look around this cheerful spot that also features salads, rice bowls, smoothies and desserts. And of course there are Jachos.
