Chef Ken Tasnaboon has debuted a casual Thai restaurant in the former Baan Mae Toy location on Sahara Avenue.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Kinthai has kept the value menu deal approach of their predecessor and offers a $7 lunch special with different entrees each day of the week. Choices include panang beef, salmon satay and "spaghetti kaprao with chicken and sunny-side up egg."
Offering a sliding scale of heat from 1 to the extremely hot 10, main dishes include massaman, panang and green and red curries, pla goong and larb chicken salads, tom yum talay spicy seafood soup created with "shrimp, scallop, squid, fish, lemongrass, galangal, mushroom and kaffir lime leaf" and rad na, stir-fried flat rice noodles with Chinese broccoli and topped with brown gravy sauce.
Desserts include coconut and banana cake and bua loi, a "sticky rice flour dumpling served in warm coconut milk."
