Hoping to rebuild and erase the very public failures of former honcho and wanna-be local mogul Sam Nazarian, SLS Las Vegas will hand over a 289-room tower to Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide to become the W Las Vegas. This will mark the brand's first presence on the Strip.
SLS Las Vegas will maintain operation of the remaining two towers and 1,324 rooms, plus the casino, restaurants and nightlife options, but the W will feature its own style and amenities following a refurbishment aiming to be completed in the third quarter of 2016.
Fans of the W style of hospitality can expect "a dedicated entry and reception area for W Hotel guests, an Away Spa, and WET, an exclusive outdoor pool and bar." No hint yet if this is a precursor to an eventual buy-out of the entire resort.
