Wine 5 Cafe, the little restaurant in the Northwest that served American dishes that used Kenyan spices, just hung up the closed for good sign on the front door. The restaurant made the announcement on Facebook:
"To all our friends and fans of wine5cafe, we are sad to say good bye but for now we have closed the cafe for lack of enough business to keep the doors open at this location. thank you for allowing us to cook and serve you. Team w5c."
The restaurant was known for its Nairobi feast that had to be ordered 24 hour in advance. Dishes included a Ngombe Choma grilled steak, chicken curry, a samaki bake (salmon), grilled pork and even a goat leg or a whole goat that fed 12, along with traditional Kenyan sides such as collard greens, samosas filled with spicy marsala ground beef and the greens meat pie.
