Early word on three new bars headed to Main Street indicate the 18-block Arts District would like to cram as many taverns into the neighborhood as rival Fremont East.
First on the horizon, Derek Stonebarger, co-owner of downtown institution Atomic Liquors, will be creating a sister tavern know as Rebar. The 1,1775-square-foot project will feature 647-square-foot of outdoor seating and take over the former Amberjoy's Vintage Closet store, directly across the street from the Velveteen Rabbit.
Further north, inside the long-shuttered vintage clothing store The Attic, two more taverns are prepping to be built. The Huntsman will fill one floor with a 2,649-square-foot tavern, plus 934 square feet of outdoor seating. Also within the same building, King Hippo's Urban Lounge will occupy an almost equal 2,562-square-foot space and add 1,040 square feet of outdoor patio. The 11,000-square-foot building will create one of the patios on the second-floor roof, with promised "great views of the city and Strip."
All three projects have begun the city permit process.
