Wahlburgers Las Vegas Gets a Construction Permit at the Grand Bazaar Shops

There's a small amount of progress on bringing Wahlburgers to the Vegas Strip.

The year will end not with a Wahlburgers, but a whimper. Celebrity brothers Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg once again failed to debut their burger chain at the Grand Bazaar Shops. It's been 465 days since first revealed by Eater Vegas, and the on-again, off-again expansion of the original Hingham, Mass., location is currently advertised by a plethora of vinyl banners, but little in the the way of physical progress.

But now, an actual construction permit at least gives fans of the A&E network's Wahlburgers TV show a glimmer of hope that they can purchase "Wahlfaves" on a bun in 2016. The bad news is the extent of the new permit.

Paperwork for $54,000 in estimated construction costs has been filed for tenant space D4, confirmed as Wahlburgers, with the work only covering a current paltry 288 square feet. In September, the Grand Bazaar Shops announced the project would debut by the end of 2015 and fill 5,000 square feet with a restaurant and bar. Also promised, but also still to arrive, a retail store located closer to the Strip designed to open before the restaurant and offer branded Wahlburgers merchandise, including "T-shirts, key chains, shot glasses and more."

Original plans called for the second-floor burger joint to feature a 600-square foot outdoor patio and a walk up window serving a fast casual menu and "specialty cocktails."

Earlier this month, the restaurant interior revealed no indication of progress, suggesting an opening day and the arrival of any members of the Wahlberg clan to celebrate is months, not weeks away. Once open, opening hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
