Sixteen months after replacing Meatball Spot at Town Square, the 7,000-square-foot Sugar Factory American Brasserie has quietly shuttered, leaving their self-described "flagship" at Paris Las Vegas as the chain's only local full-service restaurant.

However, a recent name change to the Sugar Factory Bar & Grill follows insider tips the entire Sugar Factory operation at the Paris resort will also shut down, most probably replaced by the casual American restaurant Hexx from Vintner Grill executive chef Matthew Silverman.

The Town Square Sugar Factory location lacked the razzle-dazzle of its Strip counter-part, but managed to rustle up celebrity Mario Lopez for its grand opening. A casual California seafood-focused restaurant is already being rumored as the replacement.

Over at the Paris resort, the Hexx project moves forward. Based around the "first bean to bar chocolate concept in Las Vegas," Silverman has installed the candy factory machinery he needs for that side of the operation.

Sugar Factory is still touted as creating a full-service restaurant at the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson, but a promised spring arrival date has now been reportedly been pushed back to the end of summer. The company still operates retail outlets at the MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood and the Fashion Show Mall. The Treasure Island branch folded last year.
