Cafe Derbi Comes Within One Point of SNHD Shutdown

The 40-demerit inspection found a kitchen riddled with issues.

Cafe Derbi at 5920 W. Flamingo Road came within one point of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Jan. 27.

The 40-demerit inspection found food unprotected from potential contamination, improper hand washing, inaccurate thermometers, single-use items reused, unacceptable personal hygiene, no one in charge with management certification and much more.

Since 2005, the restaurant has earned mainly A grades, but received two C grades in 2012 and 2014.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
