Island Style Restaurant, the Hawaiian and Korean restaurant at 3909 W. Sahara Ave., came within two points of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Feb. 18.

Inspectors found improper hand washing, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures, spoiled food and more.

The restaurant has been shut down twice by the SNHD in the past, in 2011 and 1999.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
