Las Vegas finally has its first Vom Fass, a retail experience brimming with specialty spirits, wines, oils and vinegars at the Grand Canal Shoppes near Tao Nightclub. The idea here is items "from the cask," a nod to the German translation of the name. Overhead find casks of spirits hanging, covering Scotches, Cognacs, whiskeys, brandies, liqueurs, Grappas and absinthe, all estate grown, most by fifth generation spirit producers.
"Only at Vom Fass Las Vegas can you taste a 24-year old Bunnahabhain Scotch – a single-barrel, single malt Scotch, bought from a third generation Scotch broker, unadulterated by caramel coloring, un-chill filtered and 43 percent ABV," says Kim Weiss, one of the owners in a press statement.
Vinegars here come from Italy, France, Spain and Germany, and varieties of oils span extra virgin olive, nut and seed, health and cooking oils. Want to buy one? All are poured into re-fillable, environmentally friendly bottles straight from the casks. Want to taste one? Pay $5.99.
This is the third location owned by the Kim and Gary Weiss, the husband and wife team who also own stores in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Sedona, Ariz.
